The end of Nanowrimo 2012

When I started this novel, I can truly say I had no idea what I would be writing.  I knew the main character.  I thought I knew all the side characters.  I did not.  I thought it would be a roller coaster of crazy schemes with Ashley Kelly.

None of that.  I think Ashley was pretty tame...I mean, compared to how I really wanted her to be.  Trust me, she gets into some mess (four people knocked out, two killed) but really, she could have done so much damage.  And as her motto goes, "People always want to f*#@ with me!"  It's only right she defend herself.

The story I ended up writing as not the one I had in my head.  Like I said before, the characters tell me their story as I write it.  I rather like this process.  It makes for good twists I can't even plan.  they just happen.  This one had many!

I could go on and on and relive this yet titled story. I love and hate it. Doing it for Nanowrimo, I always feel rushed, BUT that's when the story just tells itself.  I had no problems writing the second my first nano year, and the third and fourth last year.  This one there were problems only because I as being pulled in all directions.  So many other things going on in my life.  There were days I did not write anything at all, and that's a first.

I love this one because everything seemed fresh.  The sisters were not in this one much, it was strictly Ashley so I could really focus on developing her.  And Victor....what can I say about Victor.  He's almost worthy of his own book, but he had his time in the fourth one.

Two more books in the series to go!  Both are interesting, Kryssy the fashion designer and Tenille the superstar Diva.  Kryssy's will be next and a prequel again.  And because she is twins with Kitty and I flippin love her, it will actually follow both of them.  Tenille's will be the last of the series and tie up loose ends (err, most lose ends).

And then that will be it.  But not really...

Ashley Kelly Don't Play!

Nanowrimo 2012 began yesterday and so I write!

Of course you know I have continued writing in the Six Sexy Sisters series.  This is book 5 of 7.  A quick run down in case you missed what this series is all about.

The Kelly sisters are very crazy, fun, exciting, smart, independent and super sexy women.  They also are deadly weapons.  The series starts with Kitrina (Kitty) Kelly who meets superstar rapper Icee.  From there they are all pushed into fame somehow.  We are first introduced to Ashley Kelly as the second oldest sister. She may be the prettiest of all the sisters, well, according to her.

She owns her own beauty salon but along with the rest of her sisters, she starts to model for Kitty and her twin Krystle's clothing line KStyle Fashions.  After Kitty gets pregnant and has a baby, Ashley takes over as spokesmodel.  In the second of the series, we dig more into the life of Ashley.  She has a daughter and she is involved with TWO men.  Both are madly in love with her and refuse to give her up.  She doesn't know who she is in love with and can't let them go.

Ashley has breast cancer and battles it in this second book, ultimately losing the battle at the end.

So how can she be in the fifth book? Easy, it's a prequel!

This fifth installment starts when Ashley is 19.  Some important questions are answered here.  One, why did she move to St. Louis for a few years. Two, how did she end up falling for two guys.  Three, why can't she ever have an orgasm.

Hell, I did not even know some of these questions when I first wrote her storyline in the second book.  I tend to let the characters tell me their story as I write and I have no idea what is going on with them.  It has worked well with these highly complex stories of these six women.  Of course, momma Kelly is there to guide her girls and Victor St. James is the tough love big brother to them all.  Sarena Kelly and Victor are married and have their first daughter.

Knowing that Ashley will die at the age of 29, I want her to live her life to the fullest!  She did not have any regrets when she knew her life was over because she enjoyed the life she had.  So you know this book will be a blast to write because this girl is LIVING!!  Oh the crazy things she will do...and I have no idea yet, lol!

The story will cover probably 2-3 years as most of the books in the series has done.

Still alive, breathing...barely writing

Like many, I am pulled in so many different directions.

I am a single mom.

I work a 8-5 job

I own my own home (which you know is like a job)

I teach fitness classes and also sometimes work as a personal trainer.

I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., committed for life, and VERY active with it.

I work out (or try) six days a week!

I like to read books

I like to WRITE books when I am not doing any of the above.

Not too often lately.  I have been editing several of them like crazy.  But what is the use if they have never been seen by anyone other than me and a few select family members.  Ay-yi-yi!!

I'll be real honest about it...though I think my stories are great, I am real sensitive about my work.  It's not any literary greatness.  I'm no Toni Morrison.  My style is not like Terry McMillan, or even my favorite African AMerican author Eric Jerome Dickey.  Now if I could write like him, I'm GOLDEN!

Any writing with true ambitions wants to be published, and so do I.  I think I want the easy route.  The fairy tale route.  I need to put in the hard woork and not wait for a magic wave of a wand and my novels are on the bookshelf.  So in the next few weeks look for something to pop off with my writing.

Just saying.  I gotta do what I gotta do.
